Our masterplans are built on our insight into the way places influence economic, culture, work and lifestyle, interconnected factors such as information, transport, waste and climate. We adopt a top down approach from macroeconmic to micro factors with tools and analysis that interact to the quantifiable and subjective aspects of economic, spatial, social, environmental and cultural context.
Our approach is demonstrated in our masterplanning tasks of the BioInnovation Corridor of Brunei, the Land Transportation Masterplan of Brunei, our work on the Hong Kong Science & Technology Park and the Masterplans of the Beijing and Tianjin Logistics Development.
Urban Planning Projects
The main objective of the project was to prepare a concept plan as the first stage of a full feasibility and business planning study for a 6 sq km area of Guangzhou which is to be developed as a science district.
SQW was appointed to work for the Croatian Ministry of the Sea, Transport, Tourism and Development on a capacity building project to prepare Croatian beneficiaries to benefit from support to be granted by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The projects were clustered in three areas: Business development, community development and infrastructure.
The merger is intended to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the research and development efforts to support development of agriculture and rural areas in Botswana. SQW is a sub consultant to DCDM. Our role is to advise on the appropriate research and technology focus of the new institution and ensure it is responsive to market demand and needs.
South East Kowloon Development Statement Study comprises one of the largest, most challenging urban redevelopment sites in the world. It is an area of 600 acres in the heart of Hong Kong, including the former airport at Kai Tak, surrounding old urban areas, and an area of Kowloon Bay suitable for reclamation. SQW were commissioned as part of a consortium led by Llewelyn Weeks Planning to prepare a Outline Master Development Plan for the entire area, covering urban form and structure for the new development areas, redevelopment and upgrading proposals for the old urban areas institutional mechanisms for implementation, economic impact and financial aspects…
We were commissioned by the Government of Brunei to undertake a feasibility study of an Agro Technology Park. The Park will help diversify the country's economic base. It will have three main roles: a location for agricultural/horticultural research and its commercialisation; a physical location for development of the Brunei Halal brand – involving the importation, testing, certification to Halal standards, packaging, branding and re-export of foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, etc; and the development and production of products based on the natural flora of Brunei.
This involved a detailed planning and engineering study for the area between the new airport and Kowloon, led by Scott Wilson. SQW's role was to advise on proposals for a new industrial estate and technology park as part of the overall development.
The aim is to propose for a smart integrated land transport system. The Smart Land Transport system will provide a nationwide quality, rapid, efficient and safe transport service network that can ensure sustainable, equitable and uncongested mobility and connectivity in livable cities to support the long term 2035 development goals.
