Unleashing the Private Sector to Drive Inclusive Growth in Eastern Mongolia
This project was developed to assist the Government of Mongolia to formulate an effective private sector development strategy for the eastern region of Mongolia in alignment with the objectives of the Mongolia Sustainable Development Vision 2030 and the Mongolia Regional Development Concept (MRDC). In order to achieve its objectives, SQW led the consulting team to develop various research methodologies tailored to achieve the objectives. These methodologies ranged from major surveys to a wide range of studies and analysis to identify the best strategy to develop the private sector of eastern Mongolia. Econometric modelling and forecasts, international best practices and benchmarking were applied to compare the existing capacities and performances of private sectors in the eastern aimags (provinces). The recommendations including foreign direct investment (FDI) policies and incentives, industry and trade strategy were formulated in the report. Such recommendations are useful for the Government of Mongolia to develop a practical Eastern Mongolia private sector development strategy.
