BioInnovation Corridor should be promoted among Chinese investors

BRUNEI needs to actively market and promote the BioInnovation Corridor (BIC) in China if it wants to attract more investors. According to Xu Ning Ning, executive president of the China-ASEAN Business Council, the BIC has a lot of potential and can attract Chinese investors.

MUARA Port has the potential to capture incoming transshipment from cargo-heavy markets in the East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) and beyond resulting in an increased revenue base and channels for connectivity. In an interview, Ooi Lean Hin, managing director of Selangor-based MTT Shipping Sdn Bhd, said the Muara Port can be a regional hub and attract transshipment from markets within the areas of Sulawesi, East Kalimantan and the Fijian islands where there is a large market for cargo.

Mainland firms invited to join Brunei halal project

Brunei has invited Chinese mainland investors and enterprises to join a $300-million, halal-themed industry park in the Southeast Asian nation, taking into consideration that the mainland has a large Muslim market. “We hope to lure Chinese companies producing halal foods, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and functional foods to enter the bio-innovation industry park,” said Gary Ho, managing director of SQW China Ltd.
