Mainland firms invited to join Brunei halal project

Brunei has invited Chinese mainland investors and enterprises to join a $300-million, halal-themed industry park in the Southeast Asian nation, taking into consideration that the mainland has a large Muslim market. “We hope to lure Chinese companies producing halal foods, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and functional foods to enter the bio-innovation industry park,” said Gary Ho, managing director of SQW China Ltd.

21st October 2014, BASED on the findings in the National Master Plan for a Sustainable Land Transportation System For Brunei Darussalam conducted by the Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS), a MRT or LRT system is not feasible for the country because of low population density and high price tag of the system.

Brunei to Overhaul Land Transport System

21st October 2014, BRUNEI will overhaul its land transport system under a new master plan that promises a more integrated, rapid and efficient transport network. The Land Transport Master Plan sets out to reduce car dependency by improving public transport, including a bus rapid transit system with four major lines operating across the Brunei-Muara district.

SQW China Limited will provide advisory services covering financial and economic analysis for industries, transport survey and infrastructure planning, urban planning and design services for Kuala Lurah. The proposal will take account of the locality in relation to Malaysia and economic potential of the area in question. Industries with exposures to building and construction with an emphasis on sustainable products, renewable energy and logistics would be preferable.

20th April 2011, Work has finally begun on the much anticipated Brunei Agro-Technology Park (BATP), envisioned to be a massive 500-hectare “hi-tech” one-stop industrial community which is expected to boost the country’s agricultural output to an estimated $2.7 billion by 2023. The multi-million dollar project’s first phase, 50 hectares of research, logistics and processing clusters situated in the southern tip of the site in Kg Tungku, is scheduled for completion in January 2013.
