Mapping London’s Science and Technology Sectors
The Greater London Authority has published SQW’s research into London’s science and technology sectors, and the areas where agencies could work to boost the industries.
The report finds that there are 90,000 science and technology businesses in London, employing approximately 700,000 people. Science and technology businesses includes all activity that falls within digital technology, life sciences, publishing and broadcasting and other scientific and technological manufacturing and services sectors.
The report highlights the capital’s 50 incubators, accelerators and innovation centres that have developed over recent years. It also identifies the significance of London’s universities and the presence of major teaching hospitals and academic health science centres.
A new ‘Tech Map London‘ was also developed by our partners Trampoline Systems, and produced for the London Mayor and the London Enterprise Panel. The Tech Map shows who the science and technology businesses are, where they are located, where new clusters are emerging and how fast they are growing.
