Brunei Agro-Technology Park now renamed as Bio-Innovation Corridor

THE Brunei Agro-Technology Park (BATP) will be known as the BioInnovation Corridor (BIC) said the Minister of Industry and Primary Resources at a dialogue session with Legislative Council members yesterday at the Setia Pahlawan Hall at the ministry.BIC-Employment-11Feb2014

Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Hj Yahya Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar said that has been identified as an initiative that would benefit the country in different areas.

“The development of the Halal Industry and the Bio Industry will increase the country’s overall revenue and provide employment opportunities to locals through the Halal brand initiative and the BioInnovation Corridor which was previously known as the Agro-technology Park.

“The BIC will attract investment from international Multinational Companies,” said the minister.

According to ministry sources, the BIC will be able to provide 28,000 employment opportunities where approximately 9000 of those posts would be for food processing.

So far only 50 hectares of the total 500-hectare BIC land area has been completed.

Development of BIC is on its first phase which includes the botanical garden.

The completed first phase cost about $20.5 million.
