MIPR briefs council members ahead of LegCo meetings

THE Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources (MIPR) held a closed door dialogue session with Legislative Council (LegCo) members in anticipation for the upcoming LegCo sessions.

The MIPR minister, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Hj Yahya Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar, briefed the LegCo members on the current progress of development projects and updates on issues identified.

YB Pehin Dato Hj Yahya also briefed the LegCo members on two industry sectors that had been identified to diversify the economy: Halal industry and Bio industry.articles100214-ASD-MIPR_Dialogue_session-003.transformed

The minister in his welcoming remarks emphasised the role of the ministry in diversifying the economy without solely placing dependence on the oil and gas sector. A presentation by the Permanent Secretary at MIPR, Hjh Normah Suria Hayati Pehin Jawatan Dalam Seri Maharaja Dato Seri Utama Dr Hj Mohd Jamil Al-Sufri shared the ministry’s strategic and future plans through a presentation that have been researched and identified for its potential by the ministry.

Also in attendance were the Permanent Secretary at MIPR and the Deputy Permanent Secretary, Mohd Riza Dato Paduka Hj Md Yunos. Attending the dialogue were members of the Legislative Council and Clerk II (Second) to the Legislative Council Dato Paduka Hj Abd Salam Abd Momin.
