He said Brunei and China have strengthened their partnership by signing an agreement creating the Brunei-Guangxi Economic Corridor.

The agreement, which was signed between Brunei and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, will see over $500 million worth of investments in bioinnovation.

Twelve potential projects have been identified as areas for cooperation under the economic corridor.

Ho said the sultanate will benefit from increased opportunities and access into China through the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

“The network will help increase economic opportunities (for Brunei) and will act as a gateway into China,” he said, adding that the world’s most populous country also holds a large Muslim population.

A former minister previously said the cooperation will include joint ventures in the sectors of agriculture, tourism and health.
